2000 Highlights

PowerUP

The Baltimore Urban League has joined PowerUP.  Through the partnership - which is designed to bridge the digital divide among underserved youth. The Baltimore Urban League will have access to PowerUP's "Power Pack" of resources, including:  Gateway computer systems, Hewlett Packard Network Printers, Cisco network equipment, APC Powerstrips, Microsoft Office 2000, AOL accounts and Norton Anti-Virus software.  PowerUP is a national non-profit organization dedicated bringing low to no cost technical resources together in the form of partnerships to meet the "Five Promises" identified by America's Promise.  The "Five Promises" are caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, marketable skills and opportunities to serve.

 

Clubhouse

An initiative for youth, ages 13 and older where young people become designers and creators - not just consumers - of computer based products.  Specifically, students learn how to enhance their creativity through art and music.  Products from our computer clubhouse include, but are not limited to development of websites, musical compact discs' videos and art work.

 

Math, Science & Technology Camp

A summer camp for youth which has a technology component that provides structured training to students in the use of technology.  Students learn how to use computer applications to reinforce learning in math and science.
