Through our website, I invite you to discover the deep, rich history of the Urban League, whose origin reaches back to the early 20th century, when in 1924, the organization was founded to provide social services in the areas of housing and jobs for the thousands of African Americans who migrated north with the hope of building better lives for themselves and their families. The Urban League answered the call then -- as it continues to do 80 years later, remaining steadfast in its mission to achieve social and economic parity for African Americans and other people of color.
I encourage you to explore the site and learn about the many ways in which the National Urban League and its affiliates are working to try to make America a better place for all its citizens. And on behalf of the entire Urban League family, I thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in our work. Yours in the Movement,
J. Howard Henderson
