Crisis Preparedness and Response - September 2009
In response to the over 799 H1N1 cases that have hit Maryland (as of August 3, 2009), the Greater Baltimore Urban League (GBUL) and the Greater Baltimore Leadership Association (GBLA), the young professional auxiliary of GBUL, is answering the call to awareness. On Saturday, September 19, from 9am-12pm, GBLA will be hosting an H1N1/seasonal flu awareness event. The event will feature a panel discussion from local health care experts, a question and answer forum, interactive sessions and activities for youth ages of 5-13.
This event will include special prevention information for the members of the community who are below the age of 13, above the age of 65, and expecting mothers. Additionally, the Baltimore City Health Department will be present to administer seasonal flu vaccinations to those that have not received their yearly vaccination. Food will be provided. School supplies will also be distributed.
